Start simply
Farnow is an iPhone app for iOS 18 or later, with Dutch, English and Spanish interface languages. You do not need a Farnow account for personal planning. Features and subscriptions may vary by app version and region.
No personal planning yet? Choose 'Start with one goal' from 'This week' or '90 days' and enter your goal and first step. Both screens use the same short start. 'Start my plan' creates your goal, a 90-day plan and your first weekly action together. You then arrive on 'This week' to see your first action. If you have unfinished saved 90-day goals, choose 'Continue with saved goals' without creating them again. Review and change your plan's focus under '90 days'; keep goals for later in 'Horizon'.
In 'Horizon', the 90-day goals section always appears first, even when you have no goals yet. Choose 'Add a goal': the 90-day period is already selected. Saving creates only a goal; you add a 90-day plan and weekly actions separately. You can add your longer-term plans later.
Under '90 days', choose 'Edit 90-day plan' to change the name, start date and one to three focus goals of your ongoing plan. Your plan still lasts 90 calendar days; the end date updates automatically. Existing actions and reflections stay in their original weeks. A goal describes the result; an action is a concrete step towards it.
Your personal '90 days' screen shows your focus goals first. Tap a goal to see its weekly actions and choose 'Plan an action' to add a step. Below the goals, you can see how many goals are completed and your plan's timeline. A goal counts as completed when you mark it complete; elapsed time does not change its status.
In 'This week', your next action appears first. When you complete it, the next unfinished action takes its place. Below your open actions, a count and compact progress bar show your weekly progress. Completed actions stay in a collapsed group; expand it to review them or mark one as unfinished.
Use 'Plan this week' to choose or edit one manageable first action for this week. You can link it to an existing focus goal or your plan as a whole. Saving changes only that first action; your other actions and the focus goals of your 90-day plan remain. Change your focus goals separately through 'Edit 90-day plan'.
Does the current week of your ongoing plan have no actions yet? If available, 'Plan this week' shows the most recent filled-in intention from an earlier reflection in the same plan, under 'From your earlier reflection' with its week date. It reminds you what you wanted to give attention to. You choose and write a suitable action yourself; the intention does not automatically become a weekly action.
Want to continue with saved goals after your plan? Under '90 days', first choose 'Finish and archive this challenge' and confirm. Then choose 'Continue with saved goals' in 'This week'. Select one to three unfinished 90-day goals yourself and enter your new plan's name and start date. No goal is selected in advance; you do not need to create your goals again.
Your new plan starts without weekly actions. Earlier actions and reflections remain with your previous plans in 'Planning history'. To use a new goal, choose 'Start with a new goal'. This route appears first when there are no unfinished 90-day goals. A plan is not automatically archived when its 90 days have passed.
You can change the language through Settings → Language. Your iPhone's region settings continue to determine how dates are displayed. Your own text is not automatically translated.
Plan together with your family
Family planning is intended for adults, each with their own iCloud account and iPhone. An internet connection is required to share and save changes to the shared plan.
The instructions below apply when family planning and its subscription are available in your app version and region. If the app says Family is unavailable, those features cannot be used there yet; your personal planning remains available.
There are two separate steps:
- Share the Farnow Family subscription through Apple Family Sharing. To share subscription access, participants must belong to the same Apple family group and meet Apple's requirements.
- Invite participants separately to the family space in Farnow. This lets you decide who can see the shared planning.
A subscription does not automatically share the planning. A planning invitation does not by itself grant paid subscription access. Use each person's own Apple Account on their iPhone; do not share login details.
The owner opens 'Personal' at the top, chooses 'Family', then 'Start a family space'. Invite people and manage access through Family → Family members → Invite or manage people. A participant opens the private iCloud invitation from the owner.
In the family space, find your shared goals under 'Goals' and your actions under 'This week'. The '90 days' tab is for your personal plans.
'Start a family goal' creates a shared goal and a first action with a responsible person. All authorised participants can see the shared content. Change your display name through Family members → Family sharing → My name.
Your name is marked with 'You' beside your assigned actions, so you can recognize your contribution within the shared overview. Other family members' actions remain visible; this is not a filter for only your own actions.
Unfinished family actions from previous weeks remain under 'Still open from earlier weeks'. Expand the group to see the original week, goal and responsible person. Complete an action or use its options to move it to this week. The same action is preserved. After completing one, you can immediately undo the last completion on this screen.
Tap a shared goal to view its outcome and actions for this week. Choose 'Plan an action': the selected goal is already filled in. While writing, close the keyboard with 'Done'. Then check the responsible person and save the action. The same action then appears with the goal and in the family week. Use 'Edit goal' to update the goal or mark it complete. A completed goal and its existing weekly actions remain available to view.
The shared planning has not updated
'Last fetched on this iPhone' shows the date and time when this iPhone last successfully fetched family data. It confirms only that fetch on this device. Saving or a failed fetch does not update that time or prove that other iPhones are current. The demo shows 'Sample planning on this iPhone'; that sample content is not shared.
Use the refresh button beside this status, named 'Reload family planning', to check again. You can also reopen Farnow or pull down on the family planning screen. Check your internet connection, that you are signed in to the correct iCloud account and that you still have access to the space.
Farnow retrieves shared data when you return to the app or refresh manually. This version has no background notifications and no queue that automatically sends offline changes later. A change is saved only after the app confirms that saving has succeeded.
Have two people changed something at the same time? Review the latest version first. You can then choose 'Keep my changes' or 'Use latest version' and save again.
I have paid but do not have access
Open the relevant subscription screen and choose 'Restore purchases'. Check that you are using the Apple Account you purchased with, or that you receive the Family subscription through your Apple family group. Also check that the subscription is still active and shared. Pro and Family are separate subscriptions; Family does not automatically grant Pro access.
Settings shows your personal and family subscriptions separately. A family subscription may be purchased by you or shared through Apple Family Sharing. The demo is labelled 'Demo'. If you only have read access to the iCloud plan, ask the person managing the family space to allow changes, then reload the planning. A subscription does not change these sharing permissions.

To request a possible refund, visit https://reportaproblem.apple.com. A refund depends on the purchase, the applicable rules and the assessment of your request. Your statutory rights remain in place.
Consumers in the European Union generally have a 14-day cooling-off period, with statutory exceptions for digital content and services. Withdrawal is separate from stopping subscription renewal. Apple describes the route Apple Account → Purchase History → order → Cancel Transaction. Deleting the app or leaving a family does not cancel the subscription.
Create or restore a personal backup
Go to Settings → Personal backup → Export personal backup. The file contains only your personal goals, 90-day plans, actions and reflections. Your shared family planning is stored in iCloud and is not included in this backup. Farnow does not encrypt the file; choose a secure storage location.
Use 'Choose personal backup' to select a Farnow JSON file up to 8 MB and review its contents. 'Replace personal planning' replaces only your current personal planning after confirmation. Export your existing planning first if you want to keep it. Your shared family planning in iCloud is not replaced. Your language, AI permission and Apple subscriptions are kept.
Leave a family or delete data
A participant chooses Family → Family members → Family sharing → Leave family. The shared content remains with the owner. The owner can use the same route and choose 'Delete family space' to delete the shared plan for everyone, or manage access through Apple's sharing screen. Ownership cannot be transferred in this version.
Archiving a personal goal or action preserves its history. There is no general button to erase all personal data. Use iOS to delete the app and its local app data; exported files, device backups and a family space must be managed separately. The privacy policy explains which data is stored where.
